The Carphone Warehouse gets interactive on the Net

The Carphone Warehouse will become the latest UK high-street retailer to take to the Web. On Thursday, the mobile phone giant will launch a £500,000 interactive Web site designed to help customers choose the right phone and talk package for their individual needs.

The site, designed by new media consultancy Clarity, asks the user detailed questions about how often they would use the phone, what time of day they'll use it, and how much they want to spend. It will then select the best package for that user.

Charles Dunstone, managing director and founder of The Carphone Warehouse, said that over 1,500 people have registered on the site during trials at the weekend. He added that he hopes the site will help those who know nothing about mobile phones.
