Law firm Allen & Overy is spending £6m on a converged voice, video and data network for its UK operations.

Under the terms of the three-year deal signed with Prime Business Solutions, the law firm will use a new infrastructure based on Cisco technology to support its business, including a new corporate headquarters in the City of London and a new data-centre facility.

Prime, which will supply, implement and support the new network, said the move will support the lawyers' strategy of consolidating its IT infrastructure and increasing security.

Gareth Ash of Allen & Overy said Prime was selected following a competitive tender process.

Ash said in a statement: "The Prime team have worked well with the internal Allen & Overy networks team and have remained focused and committed to ensure demanding deadlines were met and will be met for the remainder of the project."

He added: "Allen & Overy expect the solution delivered by Prime will further develop its competitive advantage and ensure that its new headquarters at Bishops Square has the technology required to meet and fulfil the needs of its clients."
