
£1.2m deal part of £300m building plans

Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust is purchasing £1.2m worth of VoIP systems from Mitel to link its centres as part of a £300m building project.
It is moving to VoIP to run and manage its communications across the 80 sites in and around Plymouth that it shares with the local primary care trust.
Rob Harder, IT manager at Plymouth Health Care, said in a statement: "One of the major factors we selected was the additional capacity and reduced total cost of ownership. We can also add on applications and potentially move to new methods of communicating."
The £300m project includes expanding existing hospitals and sites and building new centres including a new medical school, local care centres, clinics, health centres and GPs' surgeries.
The new network will serve over 6,000 users and be based on a Mitel 3300 ICP (Integrated Communications Platform) and Mitel 5200 series IP sets.
