Pace keeping up with AT&T talks

Big deal over there could make a big difference over here...

UK company Pace Micro will be keeping a keen eye on the ongoing negotiations between Comcast and AT&T as any deal could massively bolster its own position.

According to the Wall Street Journal Pace has a contract with US cable provider Comcast to provide 350,000 digital set-top boxes over the next three years, however a deal with AT&T could see Comcast's and subsequently Pace's market share increase dramatically.

Analysts quoted in the WSJ believe Pace may be set to provide as much as 20 per cent of Comcast's future set-top requirements. If successful in its $40bn bid for AT&T, Comcast will go from third to first in the US cable market with 22 million customers - making Pace's 20 per cent a far larger contract.
