Thomson Multimedia will supply digital TV set-top boxes to the second most popular US satellite broadcaster, Echostar Communications.
The company said in a statement that its Paris-based plant is set to begin production this summer, although exact figures were not disclosed.
Thomson's shares rose by 4.4 per cent to E36.44 (£22.47) on the announcement.
The digi-box manufacturer already supplies TV decoders to the number one US satellite broadcasting company DirecTV, which owns a 3.1 per cent stake in Thomson.
