What do the UK E-envoy and Microsoft's CEO have in common?

UK E-Envoy Andrew Pinder, the man charged with the task of turning Britons onto high-speed, broadband internet access has admitted that he is one of the legion of broadband have-nots.

Pinder lives in south Shropshire and admitted to the BBC that he cannot get broadband at home despite his remit to promote the service.

Pinder joins Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in the internet slow lane. Ballmer announced earlier this year that despite being the head of the world's most powerful IT company even he cannot get high-speed web access in Seattle (see http://www.silicon.com/a55679 for more).

According to the BBC, Pierre Danon, head of BT retail, is also one of the unlucky ones. Reportedly Danon lives too far from his nearest broadband-enabled exchange.
