AOL launches broadband marketing push

More Connie ads on the way. And this time she's got a fat pipe...

AOL is about to become the latest ISP to promote the joys of broadband by launching a major advertising campaign.

AOL's broadband package was released earlier this month, and costs £27.99 per month. It will be modestly called "the mother of all broadband services" in the new campaign, which kicks off on 1 November.

AOL UK's "internet genie", Connie, is also set to feature heavily in the poster, press and TV adverts.

AOL won't say how much money it's putting behind the campaign, but it's unlikely to trump the £33m budget BT put behinds its broadband marketing push (see http://www.silicon.com/a55618 for more).

AOL UK's vice president of Marketing, Sharon Lang, said in a statement: "Broadband brings the best of AOL to the consumer - all the core AOL values such as ease-of-use, content and safety are at the heart of our broadband strategy. The aim of our new advertising campaign is to ensure that consumers are fully aware of all the additional value that AOL brings as a result of broadband delivery."
