BT Ignite is to cut 2,000 jobs in an attempt to get the business back on track towards profitability.

BT Ignite, which offers internet hosting and network services to some of Europe's largest corporations, employs around 17,000 people across the continent - with 13,000 in the UK.

At least half of the cuts will come at UK operations, according to the Guardian.

Ignite has been told by new BT CEO Ben Verwaayen that it must return to profitability.

Last year it lost £380m.
