BT told off for internet ad - again

BT Anytime: Sometimes, not all the time...

By Ben King

BT has received another slap on the wrist for misleading advertising - this time for suggesting its BT Anytime unmetered service is available at any time.

The misleading ad read: "No more clock watching to go online... with BTinternet anytime you can have the internet whenever you like, as often as you like for a mere £14.99 a month."

The Advertising Standards Authority judged that "consumers could infer from the advertisements that they could access the internet for any length of time with no time limitations".

BTopenworld has agreed to amend the advert to make it clear that the BT Anytime product is subject to limits on the amount of time you can spend online.

This is the sixth time this year that BT has been ticked off by the advertising watchdog.

In September, the company was told off for running an advert claiming that BT Anytime was "fast" and "reliable".
