Alcatel lands £17.5m DSL deal

The French move in on Scotland....

Alcatel has landed a deal worth £17.5m with broadband cable company Omne Communications.

The French networking company will deploy its ATM network in West Scotland and Northern England, bringing cable services to 325, 000 homes and 25, 000 businesses that until now have not had access to DSL broadband.

Omne will use the network to provide services including traditional voice, transmission and DSL.
