A strong overnight performance from Nasdaq has boosted the markets, with Tokyo recovering to pre-11 September levels.
The Nikkei rose 3.8 per cent, with technology stocks surging. NEC was up 10.9 per cent and Sony 11.6 per cent.
According to a report in the Financial Times, the rises were also reflected in Singapore where electronics firms showed strong gains.
