Yahoo is recruiting the founder of online advertising giant Doubleclick to revamp its flagging advertising fortune.

Wenda Harris Millar, co founder of Doubleclick, will take charge of Yahoo's US marketing team in an effort to reverse the slump in its advertising income.

The job has remained unfilled since March, after former advertising boss Anil Singh quit.

The company's total second quarter revenue fell 33 per cent on the year ago period, as the $53m dollar profit it made in the second quarter of 2000 became a $48m loss in 2001.

Doubleclick posted a 20 per cent drop on the previous year in second quarter results, but seems to be weathering the storm as it embarks on an acquisition spree.

Yahoo is due to post third quarter results later today.
