AOL UK has hired an M&A specialist to help head up its board.

Melinda J Mount has been appointed to a newly created position, executive vice president and co-managing director of the company.

Mount will report to Karen Thompson, AOL UK's CEO and co-managing director, who was herself only taken on in August.

Mount comes to the company after holding the position of vice president of finance and acquisitions at AOL Time Warner.

In her new position, she will be concentrating on business development, interactive marketing and programming.

Prior to joining Time Warner in 1995, Mount was vice president for mergers and acquisitions at Morgan Stanley and Company.
