Things take a new turn for the worse at Excite

500 more staff to go before Christmas...

Troubled US ISP Excite@Home has announced 500 job cuts as well as the closure of some operations in its continued efforts to cut costs.

The job cuts will be made in the coming three months and will see the company close its MatchLogic marketing division and make changes to its Excite.com portal.

The company has been hit hard by falling advertising revenues and is saddled with debts of around $1bn resulting from the high costs of establishing its US broadband network infrastructure.
