The company run by Barclay Knapp, announced the news to investors more recently concerned about the multi-million pound debts.
NTL remains well ahead of Telewest which has signed up 560,000 digital customers but trails ITV digital (formerly ONDigital) with 1.1 million subscribers and BskyB which boasts 5.5 million customers.
Industry experts estimate customer grab has cost the four digital providers a combined £4bn.
