
Inktomi has agreed to pay $1.3bn to acquire FastForward Networks, provider of management software for web broadcasting.

The developer of scalable internet infrastructure software is making the move to reinforce its position in the growing web broadcast market, which is set to be worth $40bn by 2003, according to research house Aberdeen Group.
Products from FastForward Networks allow network service providers to deliver broadcast services while using existing infrastructures.
