Disenchantment with UK moves Claranet into Germany

By Joey Gardiner

Published: 25 August 2000 16:47 BST

UK ISP Claranet has launched today in Germany, in a move to take advantage of what it calls a more deregulated telecoms market than the UK.

It now says the German market is open for growth as the ISP industry is dominated by a small number of major players.

It will take advantage of the broadband telecoms market in Germany to offer SDSL (Symmetric Digital subscriber Line) technology to its business customers.

The move into Germany increases Claranet's European presence - having run a French operation since 1998.
