AT&T has taken control of Excite@Home, the two companies announced this week.
The largest telco operator in the US - and a long-term distributor of Excite@Home - has been granted majority control by Excite@Home's board of directors. In return, it has pledged to continue promoting Excite's broadband services until 2008.
No money has changed hands, but Excite@Home has given up responsibility for its strategic direction, and has evicted other distributors - Cox and Comcast - from the boardroom.
Cox and Comcast have agreed to continue distributing Excite@Home until 2006.
