Sun has announced a 10 Gigabit Ethernet alliance to boost the technology's take-up in the marketplace.
Giants of the Web's infrastructure - including 3Com, Cisco, Intel, Nortel and Sun - are behind the scheme, which aims to make 10 Gigabit networking an open platform.
The alliance will also be working with standards authorities, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
