Boots Company, owner of Boots the Chemists and six other operating companies, has turned to Nortel Networks to connect its disparate, increasingly global workforce.
Boots - traditionally a user of 3Com networking equipment - is using Nortel's Contivity Extranet Switch (CES) 4000 for a project called ROAM (Remote Office Access Method).
Already over 200 staff use ROAM, mostly at Boots' Nottinghamshire headquarters. A global rollout for up to 3,000 employees is possible, the retailer said.
Boots also cited strong support from Nortel reseller NetWise Systems as a reason for using the technology.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
