Indus launches corporate VPN in Europe

Indus River Networks has come to Europe to launch RiverWorks, its Enterprise-class Virtual Private Network (EVPN) aimed at reducing the dial-up costs for remote workers.

Lori Sylvia, product manager at Indus River, said that users can overcome long-distance phone calls by selecting one of 34 ISPs, located in 40 countries, to access their corporate network. "The advantage we have over an intranet or extranet is that RiverWorks VPN selects a local ISP so connection fees will only be the price of a local call," said Sylvia.

The multi-platform system compresses and encrypts data before it's sent via the Web.

The US outfit has also signed up three UK resellers: Harrier Network solutions, BTN and EAE. Each will be sent on a two-day training course and will pass their knowledge on to customers.

The company raised $14m in its third round of funding, with the majority of the capital coming from Novell and MCI WorldCom.
