Cabletron announced today it has implemented an ATM network for sporting manufacturer, Zbrojovka Brno, in the Czech Republic, to provide high-speed access for its 1,000 staff.
According to Stanislav Zilka, director of information department for Zbrojovka Brno, the use of CAD applications and Oracle databases placed a huge strain on the old network.
Cabletron's new infrastructure, based on SmartSwitch 9000 and ATM interfaces, enables faster access to applications and an increase in file transmission speeds.
According to Zilka the system has dramatically improved network performance, with servers now only using 30 per cent of capacity at peak times - down from a previous 90 per cent.
