AOL Europe revamps executive line-up

By Lisa Burroughes

Published: 12 August 1999 16:22 BST

AOL Europe has named the top senior executives it hopes will see the company fight off the increasing competition from free ISPs.

Karen Thomson - formerly executive vice president of markeintg for AOL Europe - has been appointed managing director for AOL UK; while David Phillips, who had been acting MD since the departure of Jonathan Bulkeley last December, will become senior vice president of business and legal affairs for AOL Europe.

Phillips said that he will step up his campaign for unmetered call rates to access the Internet.

AOL is likely to offer customers a greater variety of Internet access options in what it calls a 'multibrand' strategy.
