The managing director of AOL UK, Jonathan Bulkeley, is to leave the company next month, after three years at the helm of the AOL / Bertelsmann joint venture.
Bulkeley will return to the US to take over as chief executive at Internet bookseller, barnesandnoble.com, in which Bertelsmann bought a 50 per cent stake last month.
The announcement comes soon after AOL UK celebrated becoming the first UK Internet service provider to reach 500,000 subscribers.
AOL UK has yet to announce Bulkeley's replacement.
