America Online (AOL) claims it is the largest Internet service provider (ISP) in the UK. AOL UK said it now has 450,000 members, becoming the first localised AOL service to grab the top position in a European country.
A spokesman for Demon Internet - which formally occupied the top spot according to some estimates - said there are various ways of measuring the size of an ISP's customer base, and it will release its customer figures in the near future.
